Laugh & Object (2019)

Laugh & Object is a collaboration with Shreya Dashti, an artist studying Sonology at the Royal Conservatoire (The Hague), and other Interactive/Media designers. The aim of this project was to explore the usage of humour and absurdity in art. While laughter has an important social and spiritual place in our everyday lives, comedy is rarely expressed in contemporary art spaces. In seeking to remedy this, Shreya and I created a ‘laughing’ washing machine, one which would maniacally laugh every time its door was opened. To pair with it, I created a nonsensical fairy tale in the form of a manual to accompany the washing machine.
